It is 2:30 a.m. and I cannot sleep as usual. I decided to take a scroll of my blogspot that I posted on faithfully! I'm thinking to myself it will be fun to just journal my life moving forward even if no one reads it. A lot has changed in my life that's for damn sure! Later today I may log onto my computer and update this layout and get with the times 😂. It was really a treat to read blog posts my 20 something year old self made! Good night!
Last week I blew my hair out with the blow dryer and followed up with my flat iron to get a semi- straight look. With this Florida humidity there was no point in "trying" to get bone straight hair. To be honest, I don't even think my hair can ever be bone straight.

So during that week I would put two strand twists or flat twists in my hair with flexirods to get a nice curly look. I could not use any water based products so all I used was my Mango Butter hair grease or Shea Butter! Here are pictures I took from the first day.

Now my hair is not this shiny in real life (I don't think), it's more flash from the camera. This was the first day done with flat twists and flexirods. When I hit the door it got bigger and more frizz. I still have the blown out look for my hair right now because I haven't felt like washing it. As for semi-straight...that is gone! I just wanted to share this look with you guys! Leave comments and let me know what you think.Vibrant1http://www.blogger.com/profile/05789248384458510695noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6843096634758384043.post-7847041175893483042012-09-03T00:00:00.003-04:002012-09-03T00:03:42.973-04:00Unleashing My CurlsI recently purchased the Curl Defining Creme by Organic Root Stimulator. We've all seen and heard about their new line Curls Unleashed. The product says it moisturizes and defines curls without shrinkage, and it can be used for styling or defining your curls. Check out some pictures:

The following pictures were taken on the third day of this style. Now on the first day my hair was pretty wet when I used the creme. When I took the twists out on the first day, my hair wasn't defined as I wanted. So on the second night I spritzed my hair with water and used the creme and got these awesome results for the third day! Honestly, all twists out start to look like same to me regardless, of what product I use.

My hair wasn't stretched to the max, but it wasn't as shrunken as it would have been compared to other products I have used in the past. I got this on sale from Walgreens for $12.99. I love the consistency, I like the clean smell and I like how it left my hair feeling very soft and moisturized.

One of these days I'm going to use this product as a curl definer and share pictures with the results! Have any of you used the Curls Unleashed line? If so, what are your fave products from this line?Vibrant1http://www.blogger.com/profile/05789248384458510695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6843096634758384043.post-50059576118985199422012-09-02T23:48:00.003-04:002012-09-03T00:01:18.515-04:00I've been shoe shopping! Can someone PLEASE tell me the last time I have done some shoe shopping!? Oh yeah...in August lol. The last post I did on here was on the Suede, Royal Blue pumps by Jessica Simpson. I've been with Shoe Dazzle from the start and I must say they have been stepping it up this year! Last month they had this special where you get 3 items for $49.95! If you are signed up with Shoe Dazzle you know that 1 item is priced at $39.95 so you can't beat that!

Being that I love shoes, I couldn't pass up this opportunity to purchase more shoes that I will probably only wear twice in a year. I tried to get a dress, handbag and shoes but all the good stuff was gone! Check out the 3 shoes I purchased!
My hair also needs time to herself lol. I kept this style in for that entire week. Right now I'm thinking about doing mini twists but it takes FOREVER! Then I've been thinking about a sew-in or braids but I'm very apprehensive about spending over $50 on quality hair and that's not including the cost of paying a stylists to do it. So what is a girl to do! I have to make a choice! Well here are the pictures of my hairstyle with details.

The first day I blew my hair out because it's very hard to do neat flat twists on my tightly coiled hair. I used eco styler gel to complete the look. I can't braid to save my life but I can flat twist it up y'all! Now these pictures were taken on like the 4th day when I redid the twists. It was hard as hell to TRY to have straight parts lol. I like how it turned out and got some compliments :) Any easy protective styles that you guys do on your hair? Leave a comment so I can do some experimenting!Vibrant1http://www.blogger.com/profile/05789248384458510695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6843096634758384043.post-32436935568822390862012-06-30T15:49:00.000-04:002012-06-30T15:51:21.175-04:00Recent HairstylesI wanted to share with you all two different hairstyles that I've done or had done to my hair in the past 2 weeks!
This style was done on freshly washed hair while wet, with Eco Styler gel. I used the gel for the the flat twists on the side and on the two strand twists in the back with gray perm rods. I love how it turned out! Every other night I would just wet my hair and repeat what I did the first night. I've been thinking about buying foam setting lotion to do twist outs and other styles! I'm sure it will give good definition as well.

Now this next style was a quick style that a friend of mine did for me. She did a big french braid in the back and used perm rods in the front for a bit of hair that was left out. I wish the braid could have been more neat and defined. Maybe the next time I could do the back on blown out hair. If you can't braid like ME, a flat twist would also look cool. Here are the pictures.
For the back she used Eco Styler gel and CoCo Curls styling cream was used with the perm rods. Next time I get this style done I will blow out my hair first so it will look neat! What do you all think!?Vibrant1http://www.blogger.com/profile/05789248384458510695noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6843096634758384043.post-58579580217554816082012-06-12T23:48:00.002-04:002012-06-13T00:02:47.394-04:00Blow Out StyleLast week I purchased a new blow dryer because I could not find a replacement comb for my current blow dryer. I bought a dryer from Sally's Beauty Supply Store for $37. The dryer came with 3 different attachments, a wide tooth comb, smaller tooth and a brush attachment. I blew my hair out and on Day 1 I decided to use Beautiful Textures Moisture Butter on two strand twists with perm rods. I really didn't like the definition so on Day 2 I used my CoCo Curls Styling Cream on two strand twists with perm rods. In case you missed my posts on the actual products I will include a picture with the results.

On another note this year on May 26, 2012 marks my 3rd year since I chopped all my hair off and this November will be 4 years since my last relaxer. Hand clap for me though :) Let me give you guys a flash back from May 26, 2009!
Looking at this picture makes me realize how far I have come! I still have a lot of things I need to tweak with my regime and more goals I would like to accomplish but it's exciting to look back and see how much growth I've had despite all these hiccups along the way.
Day 2 was up to par in my book! I don't do blow out's too often but maybe one day I will revisit this style! Coco Curls may not be too hot to stand alone on a twist out but it did pretty good with the perm rods. I hope you all like the pics and thanks for reading!Vibrant1http://www.blogger.com/profile/05789248384458510695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6843096634758384043.post-40115216699963687442012-06-12T23:13:00.000-04:002012-06-13T00:03:05.218-04:00New Products!Hey guys! I've been picking up a few products here and there while in CVS, Walgreen's, a local beauty supply store Bargain Buys, Wal-Mart and Sally's Beauty Supply! I picked up 2 different deep conditioning sample packets from CVS for $1.87 each. In Walgreen's I caught Urban Therapy Twisted Sista products on sale 2 for $8! I also found Proclaim Cholesterol conditioner 32 oz. for $3 at Sally's. I bought Mizani's Scalp Care Shampoo from Bargain Buys for $12 (yeah that's a lot for me but well worth it). The last product I picked up was Aussie Moist Conditioner with the pump from Wal-mart for $5. Here are the items I picked up:

I haven't tried any of the products pictured above YET but when I do I will definitely give my review on them all. As you can see I have the Creme of Nature Argan Oil Intensive Conditioning Treatment and Hask Henna and Placenta Conditioning Treatment. I'm out of a deep conditioner so I wanted to sample these 2 before purchasing a bigger size.

Now for the Twisted Sista the only 2 products I was interested in using out of their line was the De- Frizz Conditioner and Curl Activator. I will probably wash my hair tomorrow and do a wash and go to see if the Curl Activator defines curls. On day 2 or 3 with the activator again on two strand twists for a twist out!

I've never used a Cholesterol conditioner but since it was on sale and stuff I thought I'd give it a try. Ummm I don't like how it felt in my hair. It's suppose to soften dry and brittle hair BUT YEAH my hair felt dry and jacked up after using it lol I bought it so either I give it away or just use it for the hell of it. I may have to add some thing to it. I only used it once so I will give it another try.

Okay I feel like shouting across my computer screen while doing a back flip just thinking about this Mizani Scalp Care Shampoo! OMG! Last week the middle of my scalp felt sooo sore and kept itching none stop. I had no idea what caused this inflammation to my scalp! My husband has been having the same issues with itchy scalp (he also has curly hair). So while in Bargain Buys the owner told us Mizani was the best product for that problem based off customer reviews. When I washed my hair it was an instant relieve. When I feel like spending 12 more dollars I'll get the conditioner as well. This will definitely be a staple in my regime.

Aussie Moist Conditioner is pretty great for detangling my hair so that's why I wanted to go back to using this product. It's one of the first conditioners I used to used faithfully when I first went natural. Some people use it as a leave-in but I can't leave anything that isn't meant to be a leave-in conditioner on my scalp because I have a very sensitive scalp! What are some new products that you guys have purchased? Has anyone used any of the products above? Please share!Vibrant1http://www.blogger.com/profile/05789248384458510695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6843096634758384043.post-77184130033148702502012-06-02T21:36:00.003-04:002012-06-02T21:40:28.678-04:00Finger CoilsDuring my daily youtube exploration I came across a video with a girl doing finger coils on her natural hair. The video I watched was this one: Natural Hair Finger Coils Since her hair turned out so pretty I wanted to try it out for myself.
When I did the coils it was done on freshly washed hair with Kinky Curly Knot Today Leave-In Conditioner, Vatika Oil, and Eco Styler gel. After an hour or two of completing the coils my hair was completely dry so I separated them. Final thoughts for myself? I didn't like it -_- Because my hair hasn't started growing down and it's still growing in an outward direction I didn't have the length and fullness like I wanted since my hair isn't thick. So I won't be doing coils any more...I did them really neat if I say so myself! Have you guys ever done finger coils? How did they turn out? I'd love to do them on someone else's hair though!

I ordered the 8 oz cream off CoCo Curls for $15. I love the smell and consistency of the product, and it's a pretty good moisturizer. A little of this product goes a long way! I used it for my two strand twists at night and too much of it left my hair greasy. It really doesn't give much definition for the twist out in my opinion compared to products I've used in the past. Here is a picture of how the twist out turned out...I believe it was day 3 hair I don't remember.

I've been tweaking my routine for twist outs with other products I can combine with CoCo Curls. When I figure something out I will let you all know! Another products that I purchased is Pretty Dimples (youtuber) Shea Butter mix, the Strawberry scent. It's also 8 ounces for $15:
This stuff will last me a long time! I love the smell of it and as soon as you rub it in your hands it melts like butter baby! lol I may do mini twists tonight or tomorrow depending on how I feel. When I do the twists I use this Shea Butter when I haven't mixed my own up. I noticed I haven't used Shea Butter in a while so I decided to go back to older products and methods I used when I first went natural :) So have you guys used any of these products? What's your fave!?Vibrant1http://www.blogger.com/profile/05789248384458510695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6843096634758384043.post-9707422036640753962012-03-25T13:02:00.002-04:002012-06-02T21:40:59.924-04:00Beautiful Textures

Product review time! I got Beautiful Textures Moisture Butter Whipped Curl Creme a couple of weeks ago from Sally's for under $7. I like trying hair butters out from time to time until I find something that gives me the look I am looking for. This product has a nice smell and a nice consistency but it doesn't give you a defined twist out. What I will say is that it is pretty good for a wash and go...here is my wash and go
Yep looks like crap right! My hair felt and looked limp as hell! So I will use this product for my wash and go. I will not buy it again that's for sure. I may try layering it with something else but I'm scared to get flakes...So that means more product reviews yayyy! Anyone else ever tried this product? I decided to order from the website because nothing on the website is over $5! I've been wanting to purchase more headbands and and hair accessories for a while but I just didn't find it necessary to pay $8 for one headband.

On this website Mizoutlet I bought 10 headbands ranging from the prices of $1- $1.50 each. Now where else can you find a good deal like that?! I've shared this site with others and now I'd like to share it with you all. Here are all the items I purchased off the site. My grand total with FREE shipping for purchases $20 or more was $28 and some change!

While in the store last week I came across Motions Shine Enhancing Pomade...I think I just bought this product for the hell of it lol. It is pretty awesome for holding your edges in place and adding shine to your strands. I mean it isn't going to keep your hair slicked back like gel but if you are like me trying to lay off the gel it is worth a try. I don't remember the cost but I know it was less than $5.00. It really doesn't feel like a pomade either...then again I don't know what a pomade feels like lol I thought it would have been more thicker or sticker...Anyone ever used this stuff? What are your thoughts?Vibrant1http://www.blogger.com/profile/05789248384458510695noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6843096634758384043.post-21277574978387024592012-03-04T18:57:00.002-05:002012-06-02T21:42:16.651-04:00My relationship with Deodorants

For a majority of my life I have had a love hate relationship with deodorants. I found myself having to change scents every other week, I dealt with excessive sweating, and a lack of freshness by the end of the day. I even used my husbands' deodorant! lol Who wants to smell like rotten juices and berries? lol Not meee! So before my quest to find the perfect deodorant for my body I used Dove. Dove did it's job as long as I didn't stick with the same scent for more than a month! Me and powder fresh didn't match AT ALL lol.

So I looked into more natural deodorants minus ALUMINUM! I came across Arm & Hammer Essentials and Toms. Unfortunately I am totally allergic to whatever is in these two! My armpits were on FIRE burning like hell lol so I had to let them go...talk about a waster of money. So guess what? I found my match!!

Crystal Deodorant! YAYYY! OMG! It is hypoallergenic, paraben free, and has NO ALUMINUM! What more could a girl ask for!! lol As you can see the only ingredients is Purified Water and Natural Mineral Salts so it doesn't smell like anything. I usually spray like 5 spritz per pit (lol). I don't smell rotten or dirty and my pits don't burn anymore YAYYY.. Too much info? lol I just wanted to share my story in case someone felt the same way about deodorant. Crystal can be found as a spray or roll on in Walgreens and Wal-Mart. What are your fave deodorants?

Unfortunately where I currently live we have hard well water. Boooo!! I don't need to write an essay telling you all the effects of hard water on the hair and skin, just know that it isn't positive. On my journey to having healthier hair and such I went on google and found Malibu C hair products. The set I bought was $29.99 for the Shampoo, Conditioner, and 4 Hard Water treatment packets. All products are said to be 100% Vegan. So if you have hard water, city water, or you are a swimmer definitely check out their products.

I used the products last Sunday and I definitely could feel a difference. After I wash my hair I usually put twists in and do a twist out. I found my hair to be full of body and less limp compared to me just using regular products. The Shampoo is sulfate free but my hair and scalp was just a clean as it would be using a sulfate shampoo. The conditioner was straight lol I really don't recall much but I'm going to continue to use these products weekly and monitor how my hair feels and looks! Has anyone ever tried these products? What are your thoughts?
Hey guys! I bought this product a month ago and wanted to share my final thoughts on Curls Curl Creme Brule. First off I'd like to say that I like the smell and the consistency of this product! It feels very light and is an awesome moisturizer. I've tried using it for twist outs but it's not meant for that...doesn't leave you with a defined twist out. My husband also has curly hair and likes to use any products I buy. This product also left his hair moisturized and really defined his 3 a/b curl pattern. Would I buy this product again? I have no idea lol If you are looking for a good moisturizer it is definitely one to try!Vibrant1http://www.blogger.com/profile/05789248384458510695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6843096634758384043.post-88979542375605260072012-01-29T21:42:00.000-05:002012-06-02T21:42:59.214-04:00New Product

How should I start this? Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! Yes I'm sooo LATE and I haven't made a post since last year! Today I went to Target and decided to check out the hair products they have right now. I spotted the Curls "Curl Creme' Brule" moisturizer for $10.99 and decided to give it a try. Now we all know I am not a product junky, I like to try different products when I use up what I already have. Lately I've been using Taliah Waajid's Curly Curl Cream as a base for twists and other styles. My thoughts? I will not be purchasing this product again because it causes MAJOR flakes for me. I thought that when I used it with gel that's what caused the flakes but when I don't use gel I still have flakes and that's not COOL. Here is a picture of the product in case you guys don't remember...

So I washed my hair today and decided to put twists in using the curl creme' brule product. Now I love the smell and consistency of the product and felt that it was very light and coats the hair very nicely. Tomorrow I will be taking my medium sized twists out and style. After that I will take pictures so you all will get to see the finished look. The question on my mind now is whether or not I will have a defined twist out because the product says it's not meant for hold so I may have to experiment by using it with gel another day. Has anyone used any of these products? What were your thoughts? Stay tuned guys! I'll be back :)
I have been looking for a reliable deep conditioner that actually conditions the hair DEEPLY lol and I found this:

This deep conditioner is a product from Silk Elements and yeah it is pretty cool. I believe it was like $5 or $6...I don't really remember. I only used it once but I was not disappointed. My hair did not feel stripped and it felt nice. I will probably use it this weekend. No complaints here. Then I found some sample packets of this:

Hair One Cleanser and Conditioner with Argan Oil...maybe $1 a pack. I am going to use the second packet tonight. I don't remember if it cleaned my hair like a shampoo...oh it's sulfate free and it didn't leave my hair feeling stripped. When I use it tonight I will update this with more details. As you can see I'm not a big reviewer of products lol but if a product sucks I will tell you DEFINITELY!

Lastly I bought this from Walgreens:

Taliah Waajid Curly Curl Cream for less than $10. I use it to moisturizer my hair and for twist outs and such. It's not really good by itself to leave you with that defined look and it doesn't define your hair like a gel would. Smells like candy though :) It's cool I just use a little gel with it to set my styles. Have you guys tried any of these products? What are your thoughts?Vibrant1http://www.blogger.com/profile/05789248384458510695noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6843096634758384043.post-65395335373861184222011-12-02T19:42:00.001-05:002012-06-02T21:41:23.399-04:00Marly Braiding HairOn this week I was inspired to try a different hairstyle with my hair from watching young ladies style their hair on youtube of course. In the video posted at the end, the girl has Marly Braiding Hair that she puts into a huge twists to create a bun. SO I went to my local beauty supply store and bought this hair for like $3.99:

The awesome thing about this hair is that it looks like natural hair! It was dry as shit but it blended perfectly with my hair...

My hair is in the middle and the weave is surrounding my hair so you can not tell the difference :) Great style to do when you don't feel like doing much with your hair. If you can put your hair in a pony tail you can certainly try this style. I just used gel and water to slick my hair back and bobby pins. Here is the video that shows exactly what I did! Let me know if you guys decide to try it out. P.S. Why my waves can't look like her waves! lol
While on youtube of course, I came across a tutorial on how to do designs by putting drops of nail polish in water then dipping your finger into the pattern. Looks and sounds easy right? I was like owwww I have got to try this! Here is a video so you guys can get a visual:

So yeah I tried it and I followed the steps like they said and yeahhh it didn't look good to me (or anyone else except my Dad lol) LOOK!

This is a hot ass mess! lol I used China Glaze polish and some colors dissolved well in the water and then again I was being impatient and trying to get a good angle and blah blah. It was pretty messy because I didn't use enough tape to cover my fingers. So I took this water marble off my nails and did something else. Here it is:

Now I like this design! I used China Glaze in white for the base and a the blue was used with the polish with the small brush, I think it's called Stripes or something idk. Will you guys ever try to water marble design? One day I will do it again and be successful!Vibrant1http://www.blogger.com/profile/05789248384458510695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6843096634758384043.post-49769162157908846632011-10-15T23:13:00.001-04:002012-06-02T21:44:10.266-04:00MAC makeoverLast weekend I went to Dillards to get a new bottle of perfume and started exploring the different makeup counters. I came across the MAC counter and the makeup artist at the counter looked awesome! She had bold blue eye shadow on so I was like oww can you do mine! lol The last time anyone has ever done my makeup was when I was like 12 and I looked dead.

So I sat down and had fun getting a mini makeover. The catch? You have to purchase $50 in products. THAT'S EASY AS PIE to do at MAC. So I did it...Here is what I looked like after my makeover lol ***for a closer view click the pictures***

I really don't like the caked on look and to me it looks like too much. I suppose it's because I'm not into loud makeup. I loved the eye shadow she used on my eyes though and the lip gloss. Here are the items I ended up buying that she used.

The foundation is NW45, the Paint Pot is Groundwork, and the Lustreglass is Beaux. Now today I was a little scared to used the foundation because I didn't want to look like a cake again lol But the color is actually THE BUSINESS on me lol. And the Paint Pot really made my eye shadow POP! I really enjoyed my makeover. Here is my look today.

It evened out my skin tone and looks more natural. Maybe the next time I go get something done I'll do something BOLD! What do you guys think?Vibrant1http://www.blogger.com/profile/05789248384458510695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6843096634758384043.post-41400827082404611972011-10-15T20:58:00.001-04:002012-06-02T21:44:26.712-04:00New shoes!I went to the mall today and FINALLY bought the Blue Suede Jessica Simpson platforms :) yayyy! I mean that was part of my idea when I first started this blog as well as show shoes that I can't afford as well as ones that I'd definitely buy. Do you guys care to see what shoes are in my closet? I know someone does! I finally ordered a product that I've heard so much about! There are so so many different products to choose from but I decided to give Oyin Handmade a try. I ordered their sample set which consists of the Honey Hemp Conditioner, Whipped Pudding Cream, Shine and Define Styling Serum, and the Greg Juice Leave In which came to $17.50 plus like 3 or 4 dollars for shipping.

First off I was amazed that it only took like 2 or 3 days for me to receive my order! Another thing that I like about the products is the smell! The whipped pudding smells like cocoa- cocoa and the shine and define serum smells like skittles!! The other 2 have a citrus scent going on. The only thing I have not used yet is the conditioner. I used the other 3 products for bantu knots and they turned out pretty nice. I'll be washing my hair in the next hour or so when I stop being lazy :) so I'll use all the products on freshly washed hair and tell you all how it went for me.

Has anyone else tried Oyin Handmade products? What were your thoughts? Isn't it HARD to pick just ONE product line at a time!?!Vibrant1http://www.blogger.com/profile/05789248384458510695noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6843096634758384043.post-10699575476904792842011-08-08T18:32:00.001-04:002012-06-02T21:45:21.649-04:00Happy Birthday To Me!
