Black History Month

Since the month of February is Black History Month I'm going to feature a quote or mini story once a week, on one of the many black men and women who continue to have an impact on the world. Let's start celebrating Black History Month with a quote:

"Does anybody really think that they didn't get what they had because they didn't have the talent or the strength or the endurance or the commitment"? --Nelson Mandela

If you want to know more about Nelson Mandela check out his biography over at: http://www.biography.com/blackhistory/featured-biography/nelson-mandela.jsp

Happy Martin Luther King Day

Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and eats away its vital unity. Hate destroys a man's sense of values
and his objectivity. It causes him to describe the beautiful as ugly and the ugly as beautiful, and to confuse the true with the false
and the false with the true.

Martin Luther King, Jr., Strength To Love, 1963.

Quote of the Week

Love + Intuition + Logic + Hard Work + Letting Go = A Life that is a Masterpiece. - @TheDailyLove (Mastin Kipp)

Quote of the week

"The way you see the world changes after you start to become who you truly are. Seeking stops. Needing stops. You start to simply, be. A new veil is lifted and you begin to see clearly why things didn't work out the way they did in the past, precisely because it would have prevented you from living your best life. When you go toward and become the things that you Love & Admire you begin to see the Oneness of all that is. No one is below you, no one is above you, everyone is one with the flow of Life. When you get to this place, all the chaos and struggle in your Life will make sense and you will be able to manifest your Heart's desire without delay. To get there, let go of Fear and step into a life of Love."

Quote of the week

“You can close your eyes to the things you do not want to see, but you cannot close your heart to the things you do not want to feel.”

Quote of the Week

"Making your mark on the world is hard. If it were easy, everybody would do it. But it's not. It takes patience, it takes commitment, and it comes with plenty of failure along the way. The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you wont. It's whether you let it harden or shame you into inaction, or whether you learn from it; whether you choose to persevere." -Barack Obama

Autumn

No Spring nor Summer Beauty hath such grace
As I have seen in one Autumnal face.
- John Donne

Autumn is my favorite Season of the year. I love the Fall weather because it's just right! It's not to cold, it's not to hot, it's right in between. I love how the wind blows and who the cool breeze feels on my skin....Fall makes me want to love and to be loved...I just love it!

I like this...

Three grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for. -James Addison

Quote of the Day...

"If you will call your troubles experiences, and remember that every experience develops some latent force within you, you will grow vigorous and happy, however adverse your circumstances may seem to be." - John Heywood

Quotes of the week...

"You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don't make money your goal. Instead, pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people can't take their eyes off you."

"You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so that you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it."

I don't know if Maya Angelou actually said these quotes or got them from someone else but I got it from the fan page on Facebook. I'm just really deep in thought right now thinking about the changes that I am making with my life and those things that are beyond my control at the moment...my problem is I want things to happen right away but that's not how it works...

Pick One...

It's 1:00 a.m. and I should be asleep because I have to get up for work at 8:30!! I was sitting in bed listening to One Republic's song "Stop and Stare" and it made me take a moment to think about my life and where I want to be in the future. I'm a college student and I can tell you that it has not been an easy road always. When I think about the obstacles I have had to overcome I am actually glad that I was chosen for these test. Being the dreamer that I am I had to realize after high school that nothing in life comes easy when it comes to wanting to be prosperous and successful. Many nights I have cried thinking why me God, why do I have to go through so much when I'm trying to do right in my life. The question I now ask myself is Why not me?? It's way easier said than done!! lol Nothing worth having is easy to obtain and I had to realize that. The trials and tribulations that I have had to endure throughout my life could be way worse! It has made me who I am today and it's still molding me into the woman that I aspire to become one day. We have two paths we can take in life and it's solely up to you which way you want to go. Always take the time out to stop and think about who you are and where you want to go in life and try to be the best man or woman you can be...It's so EASY to do wrong and so tedious to do right...I end this with one of my favorite poems by Robert Frost.
