Recent Hairstyles

I wanted to share with you  all two different hairstyles that I've done or had done to my hair in the past 2 weeks! Here is the first style that I did with details. (you can click the pictures for a better view)

This style was done on freshly washed hair while wet, with Eco Styler gel. I used the gel for the the flat twists on the side and on the two strand twists in the back with gray perm rods. I love how it turned out! Every other night I would just wet my hair and repeat what I did the first night. I've been thinking about buying foam setting lotion to do twist outs and other styles! I'm sure it will give good definition as well.

Now this next style was a quick style that a friend of mine did for me. She did a big french braid in the back and used perm rods in the front for a bit of hair that was left out. I wish the braid could have been more neat and defined. Maybe the next time I could do the back on blown out hair. If you can't braid like ME, a flat twist would also look cool. Here are the pictures.

For the back she used Eco Styler gel and CoCo Curls styling cream was used with the perm rods. Next time I get this style done I will blow out my hair first so it will look neat! What do you all think!?

Blow Out Style

Last week I purchased a new blow dryer because I could not find a replacement comb for my current blow dryer. I bought a dryer from Sally's Beauty Supply Store for $37. The dryer came with 3 different attachments, a wide tooth comb, smaller tooth and a brush attachment. I blew my hair out and on Day 1 I decided to use Beautiful Textures Moisture Butter on two strand twists with perm rods. I really didn't like the definition so on Day 2 I used my CoCo Curls Styling Cream on two strand twists with perm rods. In case you missed my posts on the actual products I will include a picture with the results.

On another note this year on May 26, 2012 marks my 3rd year since I chopped all my hair off and this November will be 4 years since my last relaxer. Hand clap for me though :)  Let me give you guys a flash back from May 26, 2009!

May 26, 2009 BC
Looking at this picture makes me realize how far I have come! I still have a lot of things I need to tweak with my regime and more goals I would like to accomplish but it's exciting to look back and see how much growth I've had despite all these hiccups along the way.

DAY 1

DAY 1
Day 1 was a bit frizzy as you all can see so for Day 2 I switched up the products to see if I could have a more defined look. Here are the pictures for Day 2:

Day 2

Day 2

Day 2 was up to par in my book! I don't do blow out's too often but maybe one day I will revisit this style! Coco Curls may not be too hot to stand alone on a twist out but it did pretty good with the perm rods. I hope you all like the pics and thanks for reading!

New Products!

Hey guys! I've been picking up a few products here and there while in CVS, Walgreen's, a local beauty supply store Bargain Buys, Wal-Mart and Sally's Beauty Supply! I picked up 2 different deep conditioning sample packets from CVS for $1.87 each. In Walgreen's I caught Urban Therapy Twisted Sista products on sale 2 for $8! I also found Proclaim Cholesterol conditioner 32 oz. for $3 at Sally's. I bought Mizani's Scalp Care Shampoo from Bargain Buys for $12 (yeah that's a lot for me but well worth it). The last product I picked up was Aussie Moist Conditioner with the pump from Wal-mart for $5. Here are the items I picked up:

I haven't tried any of the products pictured above YET but when I do I will definitely give my review on them all. As you can see I have the Creme of Nature Argan Oil Intensive Conditioning Treatment and Hask Henna and Placenta Conditioning Treatment. I'm out of a deep conditioner so I wanted to sample these 2 before purchasing a bigger size.

Now for the Twisted Sista the only 2 products I was interested in using out of their line was the De- Frizz Conditioner and Curl Activator. I will probably wash my hair tomorrow and do a wash and go to see if the Curl Activator defines curls. On day 2 or 3 with the activator again on two strand twists for a twist out!

I've never used a Cholesterol conditioner but since it was on sale and stuff I thought I'd give it a try. Ummm I don't like how it felt in my hair. It's suppose to soften dry and brittle hair BUT YEAH my hair felt dry and jacked up after using it lol I bought it so either I give it away or just use it for the hell of it. I may have to add some thing to it. I only used it once so I will give it another try.

Okay I feel like shouting across my computer screen while doing a back flip just thinking about this Mizani Scalp Care Shampoo! OMG! Last week the middle of my scalp felt sooo sore and kept itching none stop. I had no idea what caused this inflammation to my scalp! My husband has been having the same issues with itchy scalp (he also has curly hair). So while in Bargain Buys the owner told us Mizani was the best product for that problem based off customer reviews. When I washed my hair it was an instant relieve. When I feel like spending 12 more dollars I'll get the conditioner as well. This will definitely be a staple in my regime.

Aussie Moist Conditioner is pretty great for detangling my hair so that's why I wanted to go back to using this product. It's one of the first conditioners I used to used faithfully when I first went natural. Some people  use it as a leave-in but I can't leave anything that isn't meant to be a leave-in conditioner on my scalp because I have a very sensitive scalp! What are some new products that you guys have purchased? Has anyone used any of the products above? Please share!

Finger Coils

During my daily youtube exploration I came across a video with a girl doing finger coils on her natural hair. The video I watched was this one: Natural Hair Finger Coils Since her hair turned out so pretty I wanted to try it out for myself. The last time I tried finger coils had to be over a year ago. Here are my results:

When I did the coils it was done on freshly washed hair with Kinky Curly Knot Today Leave-In Conditioner, Vatika Oil, and Eco Styler gel. After an hour or two of completing the coils my hair was completely dry so I separated them. Final thoughts for myself? I didn't like it -_- Because my hair hasn't started growing down and it's still growing in an outward direction I didn't have the length and fullness like I wanted since my hair isn't thick. So I won't be doing coils any more...I did them really neat if I say so myself! Have you guys ever done finger coils? How did they turn out? I'd love to do them on someone else's hair though!

Changing It Up

In April I purchased 2 products online and I'm just now blogging about them :) I thought I'd try out Coco Curls which looks like this:

I ordered the 8 oz cream off CoCo Curls for $15. I love the smell and consistency of the product, and it's a pretty good moisturizer. A little of this product goes a long way! I used it for my two strand twists at night and too much of it left my hair greasy. It really doesn't give much definition for the twist out in my opinion compared to products I've used in the past. Here is a picture of how the twist out turned out...I believe it was day 3 hair I don't remember.

I've been tweaking my routine for twist outs with other products I can combine with CoCo Curls. When I figure something out I will let you all know! Another products that I purchased is Pretty Dimples (youtuber) Shea Butter mix, the Strawberry scent. It's also 8 ounces for $15:

This stuff will last me a long time! I love the smell of it and as soon as you rub it in your hands it melts like butter baby! lol I may do mini twists tonight or tomorrow depending on how I feel. When I do the twists I use this Shea Butter when I haven't mixed my own up. I noticed I haven't used Shea Butter in a while so I decided to go back to older products and methods I used when I first went natural :)  So have you guys used any of these products? What's your fave!?
