Day 16 Blog Challenge

Something I always think "what if..." about

Everyone thinks what if about all aspects of their lives. From relocating, to career choices, to relationships, to starting a family, etc...So I think what if about every thing! My main what if is about where my career will go.

Day 15 Blog Challenge

My zodiac/ horoscope and if it fits my personality:

Well my birthday is August 8th so that makes me a LEO :) Here are a few characteristics:

Traditional Traits:
Generous and Warmhearted
Creative and Enthusiastic
Broad- Mined and Expansive
Faithful and Loving

Dark Side:
Pompous and Patronizing
Bossy and Interfering
Dogmatic and Intolerant

Now I totally disagree with being said to be pompous and patronizing. I am far from that! Now I agree with everything else. As far as being dogmatic, yes I am opinionated but not overbearingly opinionated. I only give my opinion when needed or if it's a topic I feel strongly about. That's it. Most of what I've read about Leo's describes my personality.

Day 14 Blog Challenge

What I wore today:
I was suppose to do this post like last Saturday so I'm just going to catch up on my challenge. Today I didn't do anything so I wore gray sweat pants and a tank top. No need for a picture -_-

Day 13 Blog Challenge

My opinion about my body and how comfortable I am with it:

With my wig hehe lol

Most recent
Me and my body....we have a love hate relationship! Some days I feel fat and some days I feel sexy. What I do like about my body would be my curves and my legs! I love my legs especially when I wear heels :) In my opinion it would be great to lose 30 pounds or maybe 40 and be like a size 7. I do wish my stomach was flat -_- and I wish I were wayyy more toned up! All these things can happen for me if I stop being lazy and work out more than I actually do, OH and eat better! When I dress myself with clothing that flatters my figure you can't tell me nothing! Sorry for the blurriness of the pictures!

Day 9 Blog Challenge

How important I think education is:

I think that education is an essential need to surviving in this world and I'll always be open to learning new things. With the way times have changed it seems like you can't even get a job without a high school diploma. Hell it's hard to get a job with a Bachelor's Degree! (Experience is key) Not everyone is meant to go to College but I feel like everyone is meant to at least finish high school or get a GED.

Education is not the key to success, hard work is. We also must continue to educate ourselves beyond the classroom and teach ourselves different things to make ourselves better people. It's never too late in life to educate ourselves.

I wanted to say more but I'm sleepy! lol

Day 8 Blog Challenge

What I ate today:

Another topic I'm not to fond of! Well I had 2 pancakes for breakfast, and for dinner I cooked homemade mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, broccoli, and baked honey glazed chicken :) It was so good! I should have taken a picture!

Day 7 Blog Challenge

5 Pet Peeves:

1. Smacking on gum or food! I can not tolerate this at all.

2. Stinky breath.

3. I can't stand to hear people drag their feet.

4. When people spell things so incorrect to the point where I can't even read it. I understand you as "u" but stuff like "yhu, abowt," I don't understand that. It's beyond ebonics!

5. Any noise whatsoever when I'm trying to sleep. There must be complete silence.

To Be or Not to Be...

While going through  my blog roll I came across 2 very positive articles on relaxed vs. natural hair and it made me want to add my 2 little cents :)

Contrary to popular belief I do not feel as though women with weaves or relaxed hair want to be white nor do I feel as though they are trying to be something they are not. I also do not feel as though women with natural hair are all organic and eccentric and earthy!

I think those are the most ignorant statements I have ever heard! I was relaxed for mostly all of my life and not one day had I or my family members and friends want to be anything else but African American. Your style is quite frankly your own personal decision.

Most people fail to realize that as young girls we really never knew our own hair. Family members usually choose this choice for us at young ages. I never paid attention to my natural hair until I was 22. I didn't know squat about having naturally curly hair.

I wasn't 16 years old with curly hair saying I want a relaxer because my white friend has long straight hair (but it can happen)! When I made this decision it was because I wanted to change my hairstyle. It was either stay relaxed and do a short hair cut or stop getting relaxers and explore a side of my hair I never knew.

The only problem I have with this is when adults relax childrens hair at very young ages never giving them a chance to know their real texture. As guardians we should educate ourselves and our family members about their hair so that in the future they can make these decisions for themselves.

Children shouldn't be walking around with ponytails the size of my pinky unless there is an underlying medical problem. If you are going to relax a childs hair at least keep it healthy and well kempt.

Furthurmore, it is solely up to you as an individual. I promote healthy hair care. No one should be put down or disrespected because of the way they choose to style their own hair. Focus on your own hair!

Day 6 Blog Challenge

My views on Mainstream Music:

Of course we all say that music is not like it used to be and I don't think it's suppose to be like it used to be. There are many opinions saying music is dead and it's not like it used to be and so forth. I agree a lot of the mainstream music lacks substance and I laugh at a lot of the songs BUT I can't bash the artists for putting that out. They know their target market and evidently their style of music is working for them. Yes I get tired of hearing the same old people over and over and I would love to hear new talented individuals on the radio but since that's not happening I go out and find their music for myself.

The content of mainstream music these days is more sexual, dance-club music, and a few motivational songs. I don't complain about it because I'm in control of what I decide to listen to.  I love music regardless. No complaints here. If you don't like it just don't listen.

Day 5 Blog Challenge

Things you want to say to an ex:

Very interesting blog challenge for day 5. I've had a couple ex-boyfriends in my life. Some who were great friends, and some that were never a match. There is one ex-boyfriend in particular without a doubt that this goes to.

Idk if he'll read this but I could careless. The things that I would say to the ex-boyfriend that I parted ways with sometime in the year 2006 at the age of 20 would be some positive things and some negative. You were a liar, a cheat and you didn't deserve someone like myself. I'm not saying I was perfect but I was always faithful, I never hurt you, I cared, I helped you in a number of ways, and it seemed like none of that mattered.

You made me feel insecure like I wasn't pretty enough for you or good enough to ever meet your parents. You made me feel like I was going CRAZY! As the years go by I realize why I never met your parents. It's because you were still in a relationship with another young lady. You made her out to be a crazy stalker that just couldn't get over you and yet and still you guys ended up married. Congratulations....again.

I was disrespected so many times and yet and still I gave you a second chance. I would ask you why you treated me that way and did those hurtful things but I'm sure the answer won't satisfy me.

I would like to thank you for that chapter in my life. Without that experience I wouldn't be the Jasmine that I am today. I took those negatives and turned it into positives so that I would NEVER experience anything like that relationship again. I kept my word and I have never let another man take my joy or self esteem away from me. I steered clear from guys like you. A wolf in sheep's clothing as my grandmother calls them lol.

God knows what we need at the right time in our lives. I have exactly what I want and need right now in my life. Yes sometimes I may hold on to those angry feelings towards that young man but I've let them go. We were all young and dumb once upon a time so I forgive you. I just hope that you have learned from your mistakes and won't do your wife the way you did her before you married her.

Well that's off my chest! Whew!

Day 3 Blog Challenge

A Book I Love:

I've read quite a few books in my life but I would have to say ALL of the Harry Potter books stick out the most in my mind! I've been reading those books since 7th grade! It was a close tie between Chicken Soup for The College Soul and the Bible! The Deathly Hallows was a true page turner and I read it all day and night lol.

Day 2 Blog Challenge

Something I feel Strongly About:

Now I feel strongly about many things in life but the one thing I feel the strongest about is for everyone to be the best they can be. The reason why I summed it up to "being the best you can be" is because there are absolutely no limitations in life. The only person that can truly hold you back is yourself. We are our own worst enemies.

Whether your trying to achieve the highest levels in education, starting your own business, being the best parent, WHATEVER, I feel there is no excuse in this world that can stop us from achieving the goals we are passionate about. Yes there are always many trails and hard times with anything in life but we can't let that stop us in our tracks.

When I sit back and think about all the things I could do it's exciting to me! I could be a teacher, a business owner, a counselor, a designer, a politician, a detective, anything that I want to be but it's up to me to take the right steps in life to get to where I want to go. With a combination of prayer, perseverance, and hard work all things are possible.

I said all that to say this, always BE THE BEST YOU that you can be. Never settle for anything in life because the possibilities are limitless. Also remember it's never to late to start or finish anything regardless of your age.

Twists & Rollers

Last night I decided to blow my hair out on low heat just so I could achieve a different look with the texture of my hair. I blow dried my hair out and on each section I used a little of my Shea Butter and Carol's Daughter Hair Butter (which I've had for over  a year) I hardly use it because the smell is too loud for my liking. Here are a few pictures I'd like to share. Tell me what you all think!

I did two strand twists first
Perm Rods
Unraveling twists! Man I wish it could have looked like this after separating!
Length check lol
As the day progressed

Once this gets really bad I may do plaits and take them out! IDK but I will keep you all posted!

Day 1 Blog Challenge

Here are the Top 5 Ways To Win My Heart! There are many other things beyond this list but these are my top 5!

1. I would have to say having a sense of humor is one of the number one ways a guy can win my heart. There is nothing like having a good time with someone and not taking things so seriously all the time! A sense of humor is a must and I believe it's a sexy characteristic. I love to laugh and the guy I'm with has to be the same.

2. Being romantic is another way to win my heart. Romance can be the sweet words a guy says to me or it could be a romantic dinner or flowers, whatever! It makes a girl feel special! Romance should not be reserved just for Valentines Day...which is a Holiday I don't partake in. The little things that count are romantic to me.

3. You must be religious and  keep God first. Most people my age (24) aren't into establishing a spiritual walk with God but I think there is nothing like a man who takes this seriously. I just can't give my heart to someone who doesn't share the same beliefs as myself.

4. I don't think people realize it but there is a difference between intelligence and being educated! I don't care if a man has a degree, but what I do care about is whether or not he is intelligent. If we can talk about anything and he can be open minded to different opinions and topics, he has got me!

5. Lastly but certainly not the least, to win my heart you must be family oriented! If you do have a relationship with your family I think that is a special bond and it carries on when it's time for him to start a family. I adore mine and I need a man that adores his family as well. If he doesn't have family then he must be open to joining mine lol.

30 Day Blog Challenge

This should be very exciting! Looking at some of the topics makes me excited! While reading http://tiashauntee.blogspot.com/ I noticed that she's doing the 30 Day Challenge so I decided to participate! If you have a blog just leave a comment and let me know if you decide to do it as well.

Dark Girls Documentary

Dark Girls: Preview from Bradinn French on Vimeo.

After watching this video it really made my heart heavy. I know I have quite a few stories to tell regarding this topic and many moments in my life I've asked myself why are people so ignorant. My opinion and feelings on this topic would have to be posted separately. Tell me what your thoughts are on this video.
